Tropical City was inspired by the likes of Santogold and De Tropix and designed for the summer festivals. Think forward thinking international sounds and feel good summer vibes, with added fancy dress fun. Our latest themed party was programmed to be held on several summer festival stages; Glastonbury, Secret Garden Party, Castle Palooza and Bloom Festival.
Music genres touched upon ranged from reggaeton, hip-hop, tropical, grime, bashment on an electronic tip. Conrad the Scoundrel kicked the night off with his up front mc style and comedy introductions. Then AJ Holmes presented his electric-hi-life tunage, sweet summer melodies ravished by all. Cherry B from De Tropix took the mic for the headline act, bumping and grinding her crotch in time with her lyrics! Finally our super hero DJ, Gabriel Heatwave drew in the crowd for two hours of bashment bliss. We rocked the boat to the early hours swinging our hips, arms in the air. We were truly impressed by Gabriel’s sounds and the party spirit that was created on the Tamesis boat.
Thanks to all that made the party so special- bring on the summer festivals!
What a hilarious party! I was randomly invited to a Madame Tussard’s promotional evening to attend their Eurotrash party in London. I hadn’t been to the venue before so I was interested in investigating and checking out the kind of vibe that it could offer for a corporate party. I attended with Justine Potter of Thomson Financial services, as seen in the photographs.
After a forty-five minute entrance to the event- yes forty-five minutes of experiencing the horror of ‘Chamber Live’ and the full Madame Tussard’s experience we arrived at the bar. There were two main rooms scattered with celebrity wax works, from famous inventors to the royal family. The food was European themed and was pretty average and other entertainment was also just that. Not a place where I would plan a party, but would be recommended for the mainstream event manager as a mediocre, but fun venue steeped in British culture.
Last night I attended the Confex After Hours party @ Paper, Oxford Street http://www.paperclublondon.com/. After Hours was a forum for event organisers to network with event service suppliers and venues outside of the International Confex and Venue Show www.international-confex.com/ exhibitions whilst still enjoying the Confex Group’s proven expertise at hosting business parties.
The event catered for more of a mainstream audience, of which many of the elements of the evening failed to impress. However, saying that there were fun parts of the night; tucking into big bowls of luxury truffles, dancing to an 80's spoof band, http://www.madhen.net/ having an indian head massage and leaping out of the chimney with Santa (a photography company who super imposed pictures of the guests on to Christmas cards).
Over the course of the evening I was joined by a couple of colleagues; Lisa Devaney- Freelance PR Consultant to the music, media and technology sectors and Carla Judge- Sales Manager @ the K-West Boutique Hotel. I also left with a handbag full of business cards after networking to my hearts content with a range of different services, hotels, media and event management companies.
